Overview General Foreman - Richland, MS The General Foreman is responsible for overseeing construction crews to ensure assigned projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule and safety considerations. Responsibilities Provide senior leadership and strategic direction to crews to ensure safe, efficient, and quality operations. Estimate worker requirements, equipment and material and develop look ahead schedules. Schedule the activities of construction or extractive workers and coordinate work activities with other construction project activities. Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety, to insure that specifications are met, and work is according to schedule. Assist Foremen in problem solving by offering technical assistance, recommending construction methods and equipment as required. Provide assistance to workers engaged in construction or extraction activities, using hand tools or other equipment. Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery. Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods, implementing motivational plans and/or safety plans. Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures for a safe and efficient work environment. Insure as builts are redlined on blue prints when changes occur and ultimately reflect the final completion of the project. Order or requisition materials or supplies. Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment. Record information such as personnel, production, operational data, or safety audits on specified forms or reports. Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures and best practices, and/or company policies. Support Project Managers to meet company goals and objectives. Participate in claims management process. Recruit qualified applicants and assign classifications according to demonstrated skills and abilities. Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or hires. Adhere to all Company EEO, affirmative action, safety, quality assurance programs. Maintain positive relationships with existing customers and cultivate professional relationships with potential customers. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Education : Minimum - High School Graduate or Equivalent Experience: Three to seven years of related experience Two years minimum in a management and leadership capacity. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of power line construction, industry and safe work practices, installation and maintenance services (technology, equipment, methods, storm restoration). Solid electrical background and prior experience running multiple jobs at the same time. Strong knowledge of plans and specifications. Experience in constructing power lines in various types of environments ( i.e., urban, rural, rough terrain, swamps and low lying areas, etc.) Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential. Good understanding of various Federal, State, and industry-related regulations. Computer Skills Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred. Applicants who do not have computer experience, must commit to acquiring proficient computer skills necessary to fulfill job duties and responsibilities Certificates & Licenses Valid driver's license required.
