Under the direction of the Manager, Gaming Compliance, the Supervisor, Safety Compliance is responsible for leading the efforts to promote a strong health and safety culture across the enterprise, including a 24/7 gaming operation, construction projects, and retail food services, by ensuring all safety policies and practices follow Tribal, Federal, and State laws, while partnering with other departments to support initiatives that align with the Tribe's mission, vision, and values. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Drives safety and regulatory compliance with data trend analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), risk assessments, safety incident/complaint investigations, trainings, consultations and measures the effectiveness of health and safety-related programs and practices to protect the public and employees. 2. Collaborates with internal and contracted experts to ensure all construction, building, fire life, food safety, and health codes are adhered to in order to achieve compliance with the Gaming Act, Compact, Federal and Tribal laws at all times. 3. Administers the issuance of mandated certificates, licenses, permits, and regulatory agency enforcement action to remediate noncompliance through executed plans that capture tasks, deliver timely, quality reviews for all licensure, certification and permitting requirements for the gaming operation, ensuring all regulatory requirements are fulfilled. 4. Produces executive level reports and communications to achieve measurable results and strategic objectives of the department. 5. Performs other duties as assigned to support the ecient operation of the department. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field required. Masters' degree in a related field is preferred. Minimum four (4) years experience in food safety/ regulatory compliance/ enforcement is required. Minimum one (1) years experience in leading teams/people is preferred. Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA) Experience in the gaming industry is highly preferred. A thorough understanding of regulations, company policies, and industry standards to ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements including but not limited: Construction building codes Fire codes Food safety Regulatory compliance OSHA enforcement Infectious disease control Environmental regulatory compliance Excellent skills in written and spoken communication, problem solving, root cause analysis, critical thinking, customer service, analytical, organization, and emotional intelligence are required. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required. Must be able to manage multiple projects, meet all deadlines in a fast paced environment, and be highly adaptable. Advanced proficiency in internet research mandatory. Must also maintain a strict level of confidentiality and act in a manner consistent with all legal and regulatory requirements and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license. Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification issued by the California Department of Public Health or the National Environmental Health Association required. Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification issued by the International HACCP Alliance required. OSHA-30 certification issued by Occupational Safety and Health Administration required. Certified Pool Operator certification issued by The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance required. Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS - ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting. Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences. Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally. Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone. Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone. Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility. Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties. Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
