JOB PURPOSE
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for the accurate maintenance of vehicle records, including service and repair records for the MBST Fleet. Maintain all shop equipment in proper operating condition through regular maintenance and repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance and assessments on machinery, systems, and fleet vehicles.
- Maintain accurate work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
- Meet with team members to better understand concerns and identify issues.
- Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly and efficiently, analytical ability to find solutions to difficult technical problems.
- Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
- Perform repairs as necessary in a timely manner
- Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
- Monitor inventory, maintain inventory logs, and order new parts when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of machinery, equipment, tools, and shop
- Consult with department director on maintenance and preventative procedures, major repairs to and/or replacement of equipment or fleet vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned by department director
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Including, but are not limited to:
- Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Minimum 1 year auction, or 2 years dealership experience, preferred
- Able to follow established safety protocols and procedures
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy and light duty gasoline and diesel engines, related mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic component systems.
- Must be able to safely operate various types of high reach equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts
- Must be able to operate shop equipment such as cranes, port-o-powers, chain hoists, etc.
- Must be able to properly use test equipment, gauges, meters & hand-helds
- Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools
- Must be able to follow directions, work both independently and on a team
- Able to multi-task and prioritize job duties to meet established deadlines
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive attitude
- Desire and willingness to learn
- Must hold a valid driver's license
- Comfortable on a ladder, working from heights
- Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record
- Eligible to work in the United States

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
- May work indoors or outdoors, most commonly inside the shop
- May be required to work in extreme weather conditions
- Frequent exposure to dampness, humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuels, motor oil, and solvents
- Regularly wear protective gear such as goggles or earplugs
- May be exposed to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting and uncomfortable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of time
- Able to climb, stoop, bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
- Able to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work in small areas or under machinery
