General Summary
Are you a skilled Commercial Painter with a passion for craftsmanship and attention to detail? In this hands-on role, you'll take the lead on complex painting, restoration, and surface finishing projects across county buildings. From drywall repairs to precision color matching, your work ensures our facilities are safe, clean, and professionally maintained.
What You'll Do:
- Lead difficult painting, restoration, and modernization projects for both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Match paint and stain colors to color books and restore original woodwork finishes.
- Apply specialized coatings, latex and oil-based caulks, and sealants.
- Operate spray equipment and power washers; apply latex and alkyd materials.
- Perform both minor and major drywall and plaster repairs before painting.
- Schedule work with clients and estimate materials, tools, labor hours, and equipment needs.
- Recognize and address complex painting issues and safety hazards on the job.
- Support facility inspections and advise maintenance staff on best practices for repairs.
- Use County software systems to document and manage work assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test. Have had at least four (4) years of full-time work experience involving the use of painting skills. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Pay Range
USD $51,925.00 - USD $67,573.00 /Yr.
