The Data Center Structural Engineer will be responsible for overseeing projects from master planning to construction. This includes reviewing and representing program directives, providing input on Architect/Engineer (A/E) designs, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and guiding consultants to meet project goals and design standards. The Structural Engineer will also provide recommendations and problem solve structural issues for hyperscale data centers, which includes suggesting alternatives to bring the design into alignment with the programs objectives.
Responsibilities:
Utilize structural engineering expertise for design-related activities associated with data center sites or projects.
Serve as Google's internal consultant, advisor, and authorized representative throughout all project phases.
Collaborate with Google stakeholder groups, design consultants, construction management rms, and contractors to execute design and construction contracts on behalf of Google.
Provide engineering guidance and conduct reviews of structural engineering building, foundation and conveyance design and provide constructive feedback, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Contribute to the development of structural engineering guidelines, design standards and specications.
Review reports, such as geotechnical, foundation and structural reports and calculations to ensure the requirements are being met.
Express complex ideas in a concise manner through all forms of digital mediums (design drawings, presentations, video conference) both internally and with external parties.
Manage all areas of project management for multiple real estate projects. This includes planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
Work directly with clients to prepare all elements of the project. This includes the scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates & budget, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification.
Define the project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through the project qualification process. Conduct complex requests for proposals, complete bid evaluations, and recommend resources to clients.
Facilitate the development of a charter and integrated timeline.
Ensure all functions remain on schedule and issues get resolved or escalated.
Facilitate regular meetings to review project status for active and pending projects.
Collaborate to develop solutions and guide the project team through implementation and completion.
Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams. Work is guided by functional policies which impact the design of procedures and policies.
Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.
Communicate difficult and complex ideas with the ability to influence.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred: Master's Degree and Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Minimum of 10 years of work experience in Structural Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years with construction for mission critical or data centers.
Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Turner & Townsend carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidates education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $135,000.00 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $180,000.00 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidates skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on Turner & Townsends applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
