Shipfitter**

**Job Description**

As a Shipfitter, you will specialize in the construction, repair, and maintenance of ships and marine vessels. You will play a vital role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of vessels, working primarily in shipyards.

**Responsibilities**

+ Fabricate and assemble structural parts of ships, including bulkheads, frames, and hulls.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine specifications and requirements.

+ Perform welding, cutting, and shaping of metal components using various tools and equipment.

+ Install and secure fittings, fixtures, and other components on ships and marine vessels.

+ Inspect and test completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.

+ Collaborate with welders, pipefitters, electricians, and other tradespeople.

**Essential Skills**

+ Proficiency in welding, cutting, and grinding techniques.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

+ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

+ Physical stamina and manual dexterity.

+ Familiarity with safety protocols and shipyard operations.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred.

**Work Environment**

Work in shipyards, dry docks, or onboard vessels, exposed to outdoor elements and confined spaces. Utilize heavy machinery and personal protective equipment (PPE) during operations. The position offers a schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a half-hour lunch break from 11:30 am to 12:00 noon.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
