Project Manager - Watson Mills & Design

Watson Mills & Design is a leader in high-end residential millwork, producing architectural cabinetry, paneling, trim, and doors for some of the most exceptional homes in the Rocky Mountain region. We partner with top architects and builders to bring complex architectural visions to life through heirloom-quality installations. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Project Manager to lead complex millwork projects with precision, accountability, and leadership.

Position Overview:

The Project Manager at Watson Mills & Design plays a critical role in leading high-end residential millwork projects from design through installation. Acting as the CEO of each project, this individual is responsible for driving scheduling, budgeting, team coordination, and client communication to ensure successful outcomes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role requires a hands-on, business-owner mindset with a strong commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Project Strategy
Approach each project as a business owner, taking full responsibility for project outcomes including timelines, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Build trust across departments and levels-from leadership to manufacturing-by engaging in daily operations and understanding the workflow across the organization.
Apply business principles from _Traction_ (EOS), _The Goal_ (Theory of Constraints), and INNERGY ERP training to drive decision-making and improve outcomes.
Lead pre-mortem and post-mortem project reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Contribute to the advancement of project management systems by identifying and implementing major process improvements in scheduling, coordination, or execution.
Coordinate design details with the architect and confirm project wide adherence through the Design Engineering process.

Project Management
Lead projects from submittals through final installation, acting as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, both internal and external.
Manage detailed submittal and installation schedules, ensuring project milestones are met and coordinated across teams.
Participate in weekly millwork design reviews with customers, using Bluebeam to redline drawings, follow up on revisions, and coordinate updates with the Design Engineering team.
Strengthen collaboration across Sales, Design Engineering, Estimating, Install, and Production teams to streamline communication and improve project workflow.
Maintain accuracy and data integrity in weekly standups, providing actionable updates and ensuring all deliverables are clearly communicated and on track.

Budget Management
Own and manage project budgets proactively, driving decisions that protect profitability across labor, materials, and schedule management.
Monitor and respond to cost variances in real-time, identifying and resolving issues before they impact gross profit targets.
Utilize the WMD bid template to understand scope, pricing, and changes; generate and manage change orders with clarity and confidence.
Manage a portfolio of projects totaling $7M-$10M annually, ensuring delivery within budget and financial expectations.

Skills Needed
Operates with an ownership mindset, taking accountability for results and approaching challenges proactively-even beyond stated responsibilities.
Strong background in construction management in millwork, casework, or a related aesthetic trade.
Self-motivated and able to work under pressure while maintaining a consistent, positive, and solutions-oriented attitude.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse teams.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions-whether communicated verbally, in writing, or through architectural plans and drawings.
Technically proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (especially Excel) and Bluebeam; experience with CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp) is a plus.
Highly organized with strong time management and decision-making abilities.
Committed to continuous improvement and comfortable contributing to the development or refinement of internal processes and SOPs.

- $80K - $125K Annual Salary
