About the Position: Serves as a Derrickboat Operator with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, Middle Capacity Fleet Unit, duty location Pittsburgh, PA. Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, operates and maintains diesel, electric, and hydraulic powered derrickboats or floating cranes engaged in major maintenance and repair of locks and dams, channel maintenance activities, marine construction, and general hoisting services. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Operator Derrickboat without more than normal supervision. Experience as a Derrickboat Operator assisting a journeyman Derrickboat Operator with crane or derrick, lattice boom or hydraulic boom services such as wrecking, removing obstructions, submarine drilling and blasting, repairing breakwaters, construction and repair of docks, and pile driving. Also have experience where assisting with barge handling, including anchoring, mooring, positioning and towing.

- PHYSICAL EFFORT : Frequently performs lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- WORKING CONDITIONS : Subject to dangers inherit to derrickboat operations, such as overturning boat, drowning, falling, being struck by loads. The possibility exists of sustaining cuts and bruises in connection with repair activities. Works indoors and outdoors under varied weather conditions.
