Position Summary:
A fast-scaling tech company is investing heavily in scalable cloud infrastructure, and they re looking for a seasoned AWS expert to lead the charge. You ll step in as the most senior technical voice for all things cloud: auditing what s in place, identifying where things can scale, and partnering with teams to build systems that are reliable, observable, and easy for developers to use. You ll work closely with engineering leadership, DevOps teams, and application teams to assess AWS infrastructure from top to bottom. You ll define what good looks like across automation, IAM, cost optimization, Kubernetes orchestration, and platform governance. This is an architecture-forward role that still values hands-on understanding. For someone who has built and scaled cloud platforms that enable engineers to move fast without sacrificing security or stability, the scope here will feel both familiar and impactful.
Experience and Education:

• 10+ years in Cloud, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
• 3+ years in senior/principal architecture or platform leadership roles
• Experience owning AWS infrastructure across services and environments
• Prior work with modern SDLC practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience influencing or guiding DevOps/SRE teams across departments
• Comfortable in both Linux and Windows cloud environments
• AWS Professional-level certification (a plus)

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Audit existing AWS infrastructure and identify opportunities for improvement
• Define and maintain standards for cloud security, IAM, and cost governance
• Guide DevOps and cloud teams in implementing scalable platform solutions
• Design and evolve Terraform-based IaC frameworks
• Improve developer experience through infrastructure tooling and CI/CD pipelines
• Provide architecture guidance on containerization and Kubernetes usage
• Partner with engineering leadership to align infrastructure with product needs
• Lead conversations around platform performance, availability, and observability
• Establish technical KPIs and ensure service-level objectives are clear and measurable
• Participate in technical design reviews across product and infrastructure
• Offer hands-on support when needed to unblock teams or prototype solutions
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new tooling where appropriate
• Stay current with AWS updates and assess the impact on the company s architecture
• Support cross-team collaboration through documentation and mentoring
• Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and data protection requirements
