What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Has the primary responsibility for execution of Provision activities and Project support duties from front end development to detailed design, construction, and startup in accordance with P&T requirements and Shells project execution work process.

  • Is accountable for executing activities and delivering projects safely, on schedule, within approved budgets, and meeting all project objectives.

  • Manages multiple simultaneous activities / projects with competing priorities in various execution phases.

  • Develops project scope in collaboration with Business, Operations, process engineering and discipline representatives.

  • Is accountable for ensuring timely engagement of the proper technical authorities for approval of activity work scope (i.e. demo), project scope, and design.

  • Oversees engineering execution and provision field activities utilizing either on-site staff or local Engineering/Contractor companies.

  • Develops and maintains an overall schedule and cash flow of the provision efforts utilizing onsite contractors. Responsible for reporting and presentation of schedule and cash flow along with associated risks to stakeholders.

  • Works with site Contracting and Procurement to develop/implement a procurement strategy for each project.

  • Works with environmental to ensure permitting strategy/compliance.

  • Works with construction to develop robust construction management plans.

  • Coordinates personnel and Contractors to assure that field activities are completed safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with the design requirements. Is an active and visible presence during field construction to keep the focus on Safety.

  • Provides technical support during start-up, supports training activities and assures documentation and knowledge transfer.

  • Provides appropriate record documentation to site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Project files, and other site records.

  • He/she will have expertise in the Capital Projects Process and lead initiatives to improve execution of this process.

  • Must have the ability to plan and coordinate multiple contractors working multiple work fronts to minimize conflicts, resolve issues, effectively manage scope change in order to maximize efficiency of the execution teams.

  • Candidate will be asked to periodically provide status update meetings to stakeholders


Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 7+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

  • Proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Demonstrates and motivates drive and enthusiasm.

  • Appreciation and honesty with people, valuing diverse opinions.

  • Able to define and communicate fit-for-purpose approaches.

  • Able to handle ambiguity while remaining professional and deliver value / success in an ever-changing business environment

  • Ability to lead, motivate, train and develop across all levels of the organization.

  • Entrepreneurial drive & commitment to deliver.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering

  • Downstream brownfield projects throughout the entire project life cycle.

  • PMP or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
