Role Summary

As a Crusher Mechanic Trainee, you will participate in a structured, hands-on development program designed to build the next generation of skilled Crusher Mechanics. This position is full-time and includes a blend of classroom and on-the-job training throughout Vulcans operations.

Department\: Central Services

Travel\: 75% to 95% during training (with travel out of state for at least 1 week out of the month during training) and then it will go to 50% to 85% within your assigned region -LA West, San Diego or Phoenix)

What Youll Learn

Over 1218 months, trainees will rotate through locations and gain hands-on experience with\:

  • Crusher Equipment Assembly/Disassembly

  • Hydraulic & Lubrication Systems

  • Preventive Maintenance & Inspection

  • Basic Welding & Oxy-Acetylene Operations

  • Electrical & Sensor Systems

  • Crusher Rebuilds (Symons, HP series)

  • Computer & Tool Training

  • Reducer/Speed Reducer Repairs

  • Laser Alignment and Component Diagnostics

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote Safety\: Follow all MSHA and Vulcan safety standards.

  • Assist with Equipment Maintenance\: Learn to inspect, maintain, and repair crushers and processing equipment.

  • Daily Plant Operations\: Shoveling, lifting tools, and other physical tasks to support production.

  • Process Monitoring\: Observe and learn material flow and compliance in crushing, washing, and screening systems.

  • Travel Weekly\: Attend monthly week-long training at various in- and out-of-state Vulcan locations.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Mechanical Aptitude\: Prior welding, industrial maintenance, or tool experience preferred, but not required.

  • Positive Attitude & Willingness to Learn

  • Work Environment Flexibility\: Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and in noisy environments.

  • Travel Ready\: Able to travel 5085% during the training program, with overnight stays.

  • Full-Time Availability\: You must leave your current role to participate. This is a Central Services position.

  • Hourly Pay Range\: $30 to over $45/hour

    • Compensation is based on experience, skillset, and position level (e.g., Senior or Master Tech)

Post-Training Assignment

Upon completion, trainees will be placed within one of Vulcans core areas\: Los Angeles (East or West) , San Diego or Phoenix. Overnight travel may continue but will be reduced as more technicians are hired.
