This is a Hybrid position that includes working 3-days per week in our Owatonna facility and remote 2-days. Ideal candidates will live within a 50-mile radius of our Owatonna facility. Additional considerations may be afforded to candidates that reside outside of a 50-mile radius from our Owatonna facility.

Wenger Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer - Acoustics - to join our team in Owatonna, MN. As a Project Engineer, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy to provide exceptional customer experience by participating in the concept and creation of structural/mechanical designs to meet the technical requirements, project cost, and schedule criteria required by our customers.

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • 2-yr. technical school degree or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or drafting
  • Project design and development experience working in a team environment to satisfy project requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, formulate design solutions, and coordinate team’s execution of project tasks under time and financial constraints
  • The ability to interpret architectural and mechanical drawings/blueprints
  • Experience with design and modeling in CAD

It would be great if you also have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of Engineering
  • Familiarity with Project Management techniques and tools; Engineering data management system experience
  • Manufacturing fabrication or assembly experience
  • Familiarity with design and modeling in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and exposure to BIM workflow in Revit/Navisworks
  • Experience working with installed audio systems, AV integration, and audio equipment racks

A typical day may include:

  • On a project basis, maintaining up-to-date files, records and schedules of drafting and engineering documentation as required.
  • Support sales team on project estimation and bidding process.
  • Conduct acoustic field measurements and on-site product assessment. Operate company’s acoustic and electronics laboratories, including specification and maintenance of data acquisition software and test equipment.
  • Manage documentation and internal support for more complex acoustic projects.
  • Performing as the project "point person" assisting Manufacturing, Sales and other Wenger departments in interpreting drawings and documents.
  • Partner with Project Managers to develop complete drawing packages and engineering calculations in alignment with project timelines and budgets.
  • Conceptualizing and developing drawings with properly calculated dimensions, tolerance, and materials in accordance with company standards and practices. Perform 3D solids modeling as required.
  • Working with Engineering and Production on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution to ensure timely execution of project schedule.
  • Developing and maintaining clear project definitions and scope through the design, manufacturing, and implementation processes.
  • Provides complete, documented product and engineering specifications, working closely with Engineering Services, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Manager, Unit Manager, Industrial Engineer, Planner and Quality Control.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of company processes, systems, and infrastructure, including contributions to new product and process development initiatives.
  • Demonstrates support for innovation and for organizational change to improve the organization’s effectiveness; initiating, sponsoring, and implementing organizational change; helps others to successfully manage organizational change.
  • Assist product managers with product training support for both internal team members (sales, customer service, etc.) and external audiences (customers, specifiers, etc.).
