The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues hosts a diverse range of conventions, trade shows, meetings, and entertainment events in one of the premier convention facilities in the United States. The Phoenix Convention Center currently has a Building Maintenance Foreman vacancy. This position supervises personnel involved in the maintenance, repair, and remodeling of public buildings.

Duties Include:

  • Overseeing concrete/masonry, drywall, painting, plumbing, roofing, etc.
  • Contract development and oversight.
  • Development and administration of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Conducting preliminary surveys of proposed projects, including blueprint evaluation, costing, and material procurement.
  • Coordination of remodeling schedules with other work sections.
  • Hazmat compliance and ensuring safe work practices.

The Facility Maintenance team is currently comprised of four primary work groups: Building Maintenance, Electrical Services, Mechanical Systems, and Support Services. The newly expanded Convention Center and Theatrical Venue's consist of 12 facilities totaling more than 2 million square feet to include: Convention Center - North, South and West Buildings includes retail tenant spaces Orpheum Theatre Symphony Hall Herberger Theater Convention Center North & West Parking Garages East Parking Garage includes retail tenant spaces Heritage Garage Regency Garage *includes retail tenant spaces Tonto Marshalling Yard Services provided include direct Convention and Theatre Event Support, performing corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM), and technical support of CIP or other special projects as required.

All positions involve the proficient use of electronic communications and the creation of electronic reports using MS Office, Lotus Notes email, and SAP. Our Guest Services Centered workgroups are scheduled to work in two shifts, covering twenty (20) hours each day and seven days each week. Team members are currently assigned 10-hour workdays and may include weekends, holidays, and evenings shifts. Currently, there are 4 different 4-10 shifts in this section.

SALARY

Pay Range: $33.41 - $44.77 per hour.

Hiring Range: $33.41 - $36.84 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of supervisory experience in building construction or maintenance and repair,
  • Supplemented by three years of skilled level experience in one or more of the building trades.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
  • Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience in repair and maintenance of residential, commercial, and/or industrial buildings.
  • Experience creating job and material specifications, estimating projects, and project management/scheduling for some departments.
  • Experience with multiple building construction, repair, and maintenance planning trades.
  • Experience creating job and material specifications, estimating projects, and project management/scheduling for some departments.
  • Experience using electronic communications and the creation of electronic reports.
  • Three or more years of experience as a foreman-level supervisor with responsibility for direct management of line staff and leads.
  • Two or more years of experience in the implementation of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs.
  • Two or more years of experience in the use of Microsoft Office software applications, including email and writing business reports.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and multiple business software applications including RTP, MS Outlook, SAP, or other maintenance management program applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook 2013, eProcurement, and SAP.
  • Certified Manager of Maintenance Certification or comparable education equivalent.
