Position
Summary of Primary Functions: The Estimator is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost and labor estimates. This role supports the Estimating Manager and Project Managers by contributing to bid development, cost tracking, and proposal preparation. The Estimator plays a key role in ensuring project profitability, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review plans, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates using estimation software and company standards.
- Assist in defining scope and methods of work for proposals.
- Support the preparation and submission of competitive bid packages.
- Accurately price change orders and track project costs.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain bid schedule and respond to Invitations to Bid.
- Collaborate with engineering, field, and office personnel to gather necessary information.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating practices and project controls.
- Enable effective internal and external communication across departments.
- Participate in value engineering and risk assessment discussions.

Requirements
Job Specifications or Qualifications
Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in a STEM field-related field is preferred but not required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or machinery installation estimating is required.
Certifications: OSHA 30 Construction is preferred
Additional Experience:
- Experience estimating mechanical and electrical engineering projects, especially production equipment installations.
- Strong understanding of mechanical trades and construction methods.
- Proficiency in MS Office and estimation software.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and health & safety regulations.
- Strong financial skills including cost analysis and budgeting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Project Management training or certification is a plus.
