HVAC Technician Job Description We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to perform maintenance and repair duties at a military base. This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of HVAC systems and ensuring they operate efficiently. Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repair on hydronic and refrigeration systems including air handling units, DX coil/condensing units, fan coil units, and variable air volume (VAV) units. Maintain, repair, or replace domestic and heating hot water boilers up to 1,000,000 BTU. Repair or replace commercial and residential HVAC systems under 25 tons. Follow mechanical code for the installation and replacement of HVAC systems. Mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications. Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment. Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems using hand tools. Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment/tools. Cut and thread pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, unions, and solder joints, forming a complete circuit for refrigerant. Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power sources. Inject small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure. Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation. Test joints and connections for gas leaks using gauges or soap and water solution. Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring using electrician's hand tools and test equipment. Essential Skills EPA Universal Certification 2-4.5+ years of HVAC experience or a combination of experience and formal vocational training Experience troubleshooting HVAC systems Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision Additional Skills & Qualifications 91M | Utilities Equipment Repairer (Preferred) Residential and commercial troubleshooting experience Aspirations or ability to achieve Journeyman status within the next 3 years Why Work Here?
