JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity. This position will provide electrical engineering assistance throughout the plant at various locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for overall electrical technical content of a project using engineering skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy
  • Plan, survey, design, and write electrical specifications and obtain electrical contractors for the implementation of new projects as well as the revision of existing ones; supervise and inspect the work performed by contractors
  • Perform field measurements, inventory calculations, and related activities in conjunction with materials inventories
  • Conduct and/or participate in plant meetings regarding operations activities, safety, environmental issues, and special projects
  • Update plant equipment data files, site maps, various drawings, engineering reference material, and/or records of the plants locations of underground utilities
  • Inspect and approve electrical equipment received at the plant
  • Participate with HSE and plant personnel with investigation of electrical issues.
  • Design electrical systems and components in compliance with industry standards and project requirements
  • Prepare detailed electrical scopes of work and manhour proposals
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Identify and select electrical equipment according to technical specifications; design electrical equipment coordinating with appropriate manufacturer
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure system performance and reliability
  • Prepare detailed reports, opinions, and recommendations ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and construction schedules using nationally recognized resources
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure designs meet project goals and expectations
  • Perform coordination with various electrical utility companies throughout the project duration
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required
  • 8+ years recent, relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility required
  • At least 5 years of electrical design experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience working in the Aggregate industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge and experience with facility power distribution, substations and switchgear, power distribution including cable and conduit routing, electrical panel boards, motor control centers, lighting, grounding, and low voltage systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot, and fix electronics/electrical hardware
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external business partners
  • A mindset of continuous learning and adaptability
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and techniques, especially those regarding electrical engineering
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot engineering equipment such as measuring devices, calculators, computers, and PLCs
  • Ability to use independent judgment in performing daily activities
  • Advanced computer knowledge including MS Office Suite, MS Project, and the ability to create and understand complex MS Excel spreadsheets
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license with good driving record
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time to various field locations with overnight stays as needed
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours if necessary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight occasionally
  • Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
  • Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
