Wilson & Company is seeking a full-time structural engineer to support our structural team in Omaha, Kansas City, and Saint Louis and Springfield, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have experience in railroad structural design projects and performing complex planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who enjoys being part of a team performing office and fieldwork. Role and responsibilities: Regular job duties include design and detailing railway structures, including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, earth retaining systems, drainage structures, and light industrial structures. The candidate must perform complex engineering tasks accurately, extract engineering information from CAD drawings and project-related reports, and complete a variety of assignments such as developing drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Candidate's flexibility to work on railway and highway structures is essential to succeed with key performance indicators established by Wilson & Company leadership. Task management or project management skills to effectively assist or lead a team to successful completion of quality construction documents within schedules and budgets is a priority. In addition to the tasks listed, the candidate will be expected to lead the structural design of projects and mentor entry-level staff in the design and production of construction drawings. Communication is key for this position. The candidate will need to communicate effectively and direct entry-level staff and provide reports and updates to senior-level staff and clients. The candidate will need to work in a team environment with engineers from a multitude of disciplines and locations. Required Experience: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (master's degree is a plus) from an ABET accredited school. 7+ years of experience in structural engineering design including bridge, retaining wall and other transportation structures; the ideal candidate having 10 or more years of experience. Licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas, or ability to obtain within 6 months. Experience in plan development, analysis and design calculations, quality control of railway and highway structures, and familiarity with RR guidelines, AREMA and AASHTO. Experience in using software like Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX, MIDAS, and other related engineering software to design structural elements of bridges. Strategic thinking. Effective communicator and collaborator with ability to work with multi-disciplines. Business development skills to plan and capture work with existing and new clients.
