Responsible for overseeing maintenance, electrician/construction crews while performing project work. Provides technical knowledge used in the design and implementation of capital projects that serve to either lessen the maintenance burden or reduce costs.Job Duties 1. Engineering expertise in the evaluation, selection, installation, and operation of new or existing machinery, and processes in the division.2. Process improvement/streamline duties that reduce costs or otherwise improve the quality of the product.3. Assist the director of processing and engineering in the establishment of a capital budget. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, creating individual project budgets, and calculating paybacks for those projects.4. Work with division and corporate maintenance personnel concerning equipment installations, maintenance projects, and capital projects in both the planning and implementation phases of said items.5. Assist department heads and general personnel with production problems and cost-saving efforts.6. Assist division and corporate heads in compliance with Federal, State, and Local Environmental Regulations.7. Assist Jonesboro Rice Division employees with the production of detailed construction and fabrication drawings using computer-aided drafting software.8. Serve as an intermediary between Riceland and outside vendors/contractors during all steps of engineering projects, equipment repair, and facility repair.9. Prepare preliminary and detailed cost studies for projects affecting productivity, safety, and quality of plant operations.10. Keep informed regarding the development of new technology supporting the plant process.11. Participate with outside consultants on efficiency studies.12. Be involved with interviewing, hiring, and training employees, as well as appraising performance of these employees.13. Analyze and resolve work conflicts/ opportunities, as well as assist workers in solving work problems.14. Instruct Safety/Sanitation/SSP meetings two or three times annually.15. Attend monthly engineering, supervisor, and safety/sanitation meetings.16. Respond to plant emergencies, downtime, and troubleshooting as required.17. Performs other duties as assigned.Budget Responsibility: $ Up to 1MM Annual dollarsFacilities and Equipment Responsibility: $ 500,000 Total valueEducation Requirements Technical degree from two-year college or technical school and up to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 1-6 months of management experienceMATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
