The Colorado Springs Airport is ready to welcome an Equipment Operator I to their Airfield Maintenance team! As an Equipment Operator I, you will perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks for the Airfield Maintenance Division of the Airport (Colorado Springs Airport).

Hourly Salary: $19.98 - $23.99 (+ 5% pay differential)

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday; 8-hour shifts. Opportunity for overtime and occasional night work depending on project deadlines and operational requirements. Subject to on-call, emergency call-out, and seasonal duties such as 12-hour rotating shifts for snow removal procedures when necessary.

Prerequisite: The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.

As an Equipment Operator I, you will:

Perform manual labor such as mowing, erosion control, snow removal, and fence repair
Perform airfield and landside painting
Maintain, repair, and replace concrete/asphalt surfaces and drainage systems
Operate mowing, light construction, and airfield snow removal equipment
Ensure all work is performed according to applicable safety regulations
Perform general grounds maintenance
Perform general maintenance and repairs of equipment

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

Practices, methods, and materials used in grounds maintenance
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
And experience with all types of concrete repair and replacement
And experience with all types of asphalt repair and replacement

Ability to:

Safely operate assigned vehicle, machinery, and equipment
Learn pertinent FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) airfield regulations
Adhere to Airport and FAA safety standards

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
One year of full-time, professional experience in related field
Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions
Possess or obtain within 12 months of start date, a valid non-probationary Colorado Class B CDL not subject to restrictions is required for this position
