Were seeking a seasoned MEP Estimator to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing cost planning for large-scale health care and higher education projects. This is a strategic, office-based role with visibility across multiple regions including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina.
About the RoleAs an MEP Estimator, youll be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates across all phases of design and construction. Youll collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing, value engineering, and competitive bids. Your insights will help shape project strategy and client expectations from preconstruction through delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of detailed MEP estimates for large-scale institutional and healthcare projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and documentation to prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and perform scope reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Collaborate with design teams to identify value engineering and constructability solutions
- Participate in preconstruction meetings and client presentations
- Maintain and update historical cost data, unit pricing, and benchmarking tools
- Stay current on market trends, labor rates, and material costs across supported regions
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvement
- 8+ years of experience as an MEP Estimator in commercial construction
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Proven ability to manage cost plans and estimates across all project phases
- Experience advising clients on cost strategies and market conditions
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam ,CostX, or similar)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work on-site in the New York City or Boston office
