Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Operator in South Charleston, West Virginia!

About you and this role

As a Infrastructure Operator, you can perform routine chemical operator tasks, including chemical transfers, monitoring process equipment, sampling product and troubleshooting and performing minor maintenance on equipment. You can utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform chemical transfers safely. Perform minor maintenance tasks as required to keep processes operating. Monitor and control the unit via the computer system. You must be able to make safe and educated decisions in the event of a process upset. Participate in all safety programs and required training; demonstrate behaviors with a clear safety focus for all employees and the community; engage in all plant initiatives, identify near miss incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Operate outfalls, analyzers, sumps, and sewers
  • Responsible for compliance sampling
  • Operate impoundment area tasks and inspections
  • Responsible for operational ownership of firewater distribution, Emergency and equalization tanks, diversion pumps, bridges, riverbanks, and site infrastructure.
  • Not limited to operating natural gas fired boilers, boiler feed water pumps, and large industrial valves with associated utility products.
  • Operate below ground utilities and grounds including but not limited to: river water, pump houses and process water(s).
  • Operate above ground utilities including, but not limited to, steam, air, nitrogen, and fuel gas in the field.
  • Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operate and field checks process equipment. Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems.
  • Perform tasks assigned to operations as per Operations Dashboard field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.
  • Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with Plant and business goals.
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • As required, initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Coach and train others on plant operations.
  • Perform immediate response activities assigned by Immediate Response Leader.
  • Participate and be an active member of Site Fire Squad.
  • Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 years of Industrial or other Process Sewer/Waste treatment experience.
  • Must be willing to participate and be an active member of Site Fire Squad.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have an active and valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, if required.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Operations: Must have the ability and expertise needed to effectively manage and optimize an organizations operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Preventative Maintenance : Must have a systematic approach to proactively maintain equipment and systems to prevent breakdowns and extend their lifespans.
  • Minor Repair : Must posses a range of practical abilities needed to address common plant issues in order to maintain plant operations.
  • Wastewater Treatment : Must posses a wide range of technical and soft skills essential for maintaining safe and efficient operations of wastewater treatment facilities. These skills include operating and maintaining equipment, collecting and analyzing samples, troubleshooting problems and adhering to safety regulations.
