In the role of Civil Construction Inspector 2, we'll count on you to\:
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines
- Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
- Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed
- Conduct or Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing
- Compose reports with a daily log of activities, personnel, and pictures to send to clients daily
- Work may require 50% to 100% travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections outside of the Kansas City area
- Possibility for Long term project assignments.
- Work outdoors and navigate construction sites in all seasons.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical school or Associate degree
- Relevant Industry Certifications
- Ability to interpret construction schedules
- Exhibit professionalism with clients
- Licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law
- Ability to work outdoors and navigate construction sites in all seasons
- Familiarity with collaboration products such OneDrive, MS Teams, and OneNote.
- KDOT and/or MoDOT Certifications are a plus
- Exercise good judgment and discretion and independently resolve problems and issues.
- Demonstrated experience in construction and/or construction inspection of Heavy civil infrastructure for County, City, Municipal, DOT, freight or passenger Railroads.
- General accounting knowledge
- Utilize survey equipment to check and confirm construction.
- Some experience in submittal review and processing.
- Documentation Experience with DOT AWP program
Required Qualifications
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
- A minimum of 3 years experience
- Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
