Job Description Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining construction and skilled trades training programs at Prince George's Community College, serving Prince George's County and the Washington, DC Metro area. Reporting to the Department Chair of Technology, Engineering, and Construction ( TEC ), the Coordinator ensures these programs align with regional industry needs and educational standards. Responsibilities include oversight of the Core Building Maintenance Engineer, HVAC, Plumbing, and Stationary Engineering programs. The Coordinator also manages key contracts, including CASA, Local 1099, Adult Ed/Core partnerships, and other agreements related to Annex A programs

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree or training certification in related field.

Four years of -related experience

Certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research ( NCCER ) as a Master Trainer preferred or willing to become certified within six months after hire.

Bachelor degree preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Designs, implements, and oversees Construction and Skilled Trades training programs and contracts based on labor trends, licensing requirements, and institutional goals.

Manages course delivery for Annex A programs including Core Building Maintenance Engineer, HVAC, Plumbing, and Stationary Engineering.

Maintains and executes contracts including CASA, Local 1099, and Adult Ed/Core partnerships, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

Recruits, orients, and evaluates instructors to ensure instructional quality and adherence to contract requirements

Develops and helps administer Skilled Trades and Energy training programs using research from peer institutions, national associations, and environmental scans. Stays current on local, state, and national trends and licensing requirements affecting course development.

Identifies and assists with instructor or customer special logistical requirements, as needed.

Follows a systematic approach to ensure that instructor recruitments, hiring, and contractual paperwork, and logistical requirements are completed.

Ensures courses/programs follow WFD continuing education student outcomes procedures.

Review and approve books, supply list, and course materials that meet course objectives.

Maintains an instructor database with highly qualified instructors needed to timely respond to skilled trades and energy programs. Updates the instructor database and colleague to reflect accurate data.

Provides timely feedback to instructors regarding course evaluations.

Evaluates the overall quality of all courses and identifies suggestions for continuous improvement.

Prepares CC10s forms and adheres to the continuing education production timeline.

Ensures labs are prepared and fully equipped for instruction.

Advises students on career planning and course selection for certification or degree completion.

Builds relationships with local associations and state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure all programs meet licensing and safety standards.

Establishes relationships and develops contracts with local community employers, trade associations, and unions to provide placement opportunities and additional services. Ensures all contracts follow the college guidelines.

Supports student recruitment by participating in outreach events and responding to student inquiries within 24 hours.

Recruits instructors in accordance with CSM's approved hiring standards.

Ensures instructors receive proper orientation, NCCER accreditation (when applicable), and all necessary supplies and materials prior to the start of classes

Monitors instructor performance and provides constructive feedback.

Performs other related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong knowledge of the skilled trades, apprenticeship programs, and construction and energy industries

Excellent communication and organizational skills, exceptional interpersonal skills

Strong skills using Microsoft office suite

Accuracy and attention to detail

Maintains insurability under the college's vehicle liability insurance plan

Experience working in the skilled trades

Demonstrated knowledge course/program coordination (needs assessment, course/program development, implementation and evaluation).

Ability to market courses and programs to the public.

Demonstrated knowledge in recruiting, hiring, and evaluating staff.

Knowledge of Internal and External contacts of both public and private organizations to help determine training needs.

Experience working in an education or training environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.

As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.

A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
