Project Manager - Environmental Graphic Design Kahler Slater is seeking a Project Manager with 5+ years of experience to join our Environmental Branding Team. We bring brands to life through the spaces people experience. From signage and storytelling to large-scale graphics, we design environments that reflect each client's culture and purpose.As a Project Manager, you'll guide projects from early ideas to final installation, working closely with designers, architects, and strategists. You'll keep things organized and on track-managing timelines, coordinating across teams, and ensuring the work is thoughtful and well-executed.This role is perfect for someone who understands how creative teams operate and knows how to keep projects moving with clarity and purpose. You see the big picture, but you're also great with the details because both matter when it comes to great design. Principal Duties and Responsibilities of a Project Manager - Environmental Graphic Design Project Development Lead projects from kickoff through final installation and deliverables. Translate brand strategy into actionable work plans and manage cross-functional teams-including designers, architects, signage vendors, exhibit fabricators, and specialty consultants-to ensure cohesive implementation. Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget by managing against project plans/schedules/timelines and defined budgets - all of which are subject to updates based upon tangible changes impacting the delivery of work Oversee internal and external production documentation for quality assurance Facilitate client communications, status meetings, presentations, and decision-making processes Leadership Consistently and effectively plan, resource, execute, and otherwise manage cross-functional teams on projects that are high quality, profitable, and delivered on time Collaborate with internal key stakeholders, including leadership, to align on risk priorities and ensure risk strategies are integrated into project planning Contribute to the preparation and delivery of presentations to project key stakeholders, providing data-driven insights and recommendations. Maintain accountability across timelines, budget, and scope, while balancing client needs with design excellence Mentor junior staff and elevate cross-team collaboration by facilitating the sharing of best practices and project insights Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of a Project Manager - Environmental Graphic Design Degree in Project Management, Environmental Graphic Design, Interior Design, or a related field PMP certification or similar, preferred 5+ years of experience managing creative or design-centric projects, including branding, experiential design, signage/wayfinding, or exhibit design Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and external vendors from concept through installation Proven experience managing project finances, timelines, and internal resourcing Demonstrated success with production coordination, design documentation, and vendor bidding/management Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, and comfort with project management tools (e.g., Deltek, Microsoft Projects) Familiarity with signage systems, fabrication processes, and material specifications Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills Highly organized and proactive with a clear ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines Comfortable with adjusting to changing priorities and flexibility to meet tight deadlines. This is a hybrid role, requiring an average of 3 days per week in our Chicago or Milwaukee offices, with flexibility in choosing which days' work best for you.
