Established manufacturer in Denison, TX, is seeking to hire an experienced industrial machine maintenance mechanic for 2nd Shift.
General Description:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of machinery used in the facility.
Designs and fabricates chutes, hoppers, stands, etc.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Locate trouble causing malfunctions; dismantle machines; replace broken or worn parts; and reassemble machine.
Performs any operations necessary to repair any piece of machinery or equipment using any or all the following skills:
Arc or gas welding on mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum.
Brazing, soldering, silver soldering, torch welding, drilling, and tapping.
Replace bearings, shafts, gears, pins, and keys.
Repair, maintain, and assemble safety guards, ejection, feeding, pumping, and other
attachments.
Analyze and diagnose complex hydraulic systems using hydraulic schematics.
Rebuild hydraulic valves cylinders and pumps.
Weld and build steel tables, brackets, extensions, oilers, safety gates, etc., to be added to
machinery.
Move heavy equipment and machinery from one point to another within the plant area.
Perform mechanical repairs on buildings such as installing rain gutters, repairing overhead and steel doors, plumbing, sewer pipes, air conditioning units, etc.
Must be able to take the initiative to respond to any discrepancy.
Contact vendors for technical assistance, parts availability, and prepare Purchase Requisitions, PTO's, and other types of documentation.
Initiates Engineering contacts for problem resolution.
Takes responsibility for Safety and Housekeeping.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures safety measures such as wearing protective clothing and glasses and reports any unsafe working conditions.
Participates in group efforts so that each person may be able to function in the team-oriented activities of the department.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lead.
Education and Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Requires 3 to 4 years maintenance mechanic experience.
Required Skills:
Requires excellent mechanical aptitude and good analytical ability.
Ability to read and write English and do simple arithmetic.
Must know all types of welding, brazing, and soldering.
Ability to read simple blue prints.
Able to see the average job through to completion without relying on others.
Able to use all equipment and tools properly.
Able to troubleshoot probable cause of most machine malfunctions.
Must have tools of the trade as specified in separate policy.
Able to work well under pressure
