Sr. Mechanical Engineer
Independently, the Senior Engineer performs discipline responsibilities within Project and Departmental Budgets. Engineer is accountable technically and administratively to the Department Manager as well as Project Managers for successfully executing the Mechanical group's work. Engineer is expected to serve in the roles of Project Discipline Lead and Engineer of Record. Engineer is expected to execute multiple projects of different sizes simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Work closely with other discipline Project Leads, Engineers, Architects and Designers to deliver code compliant, technically correct and graphically complete project documents including calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications.
Develop HVAC and Utility design parameters based on industry standards, client's standards, and specific project requirements.
Generate HVAC loads, air flow and energy calculations; by hand, using Microsoft Excel, and using Trane Trace simulation software.
Perform engineering calculations including utility loads, line sizing, pump hydraulics, system air flow pressure loss, and room pressurization.
Develop HVAC air flow and instrument diagrams (A&ID's).
Develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID's).
Develop HVAC and Utility system sequence of operations.
Develop drain waste and vent piping isometrics.
Supervise designers in the development of equipment arrangement, duct and piping routing, A&ID's, P&ID's, DWV isometrics, and construction drawings.
Work with equipment vendors to obtain the required equipment needed for a project.
Generate complete construction specifications utilizing MasterSpec.
Conduct client work sessions at project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines.
Conduct HVAC and Utility studies for evaluation of existing systems.
Analyze unique situations and develop appropriate technical solutions.
Provide construction support including building construction perming support, bid tabulation, submittal reviews, response to RFIs, and site observations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Mastery of psychometrics and heat transfer.
Extensive knowledge of current Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fuel Gas, Fire, and Energy Codes.
Extensive knowledge of current ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards.
Mastery of Trane Trace.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Fundamental Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and familiarity with 3D model and 2D drawing development process.
Ability to produce sketches to communicate ideas and concepts to clients and project team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of residence and ability to become licensed in multiple States.
More than 15 years of experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Utility system engineering design and construction document development, including more than 10 years of experience in executing manufacturing, chemical, food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical projects.
3-5 years of Pharma MEP experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hours' average 40 per week; may require additional hours including evenings and weekends depending on business needs.
Work typically performed in an indoor office setting/client site.
Hybrid work location is acceptable, 2-3 days in the office remainder can be remote. (Cincinnati, OH or Hammond, IN.)
Travel:
Occasional travel and work at clients' and construction sites indoor and outdoor locations.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time.
Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
Ability to safely walk, climb stairs, climb ladders, and document systems at client and construction sites for extended periods of time.
Light lifting up to 20 pounds.
