The Heavy Equipment Operator is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various construction equipment including dozers, loaders, excavators, graders, and haul trucks.

Compensation

Hourly, $40.00 to $45.50 DOE

Responsibilities
  • Operates front-end loaders, dozers, backhoes, haul trucks, and other mobile equipment
  • Loads trucks and maintains proper quantities of material to be loaded
  • Follow directions of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations
  • Completes visual and daily safety inspection of equipment to ensure safe operations
  • Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires
  • Follows established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions
  • Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental, and OSHA and MSHA requirements are always followed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Education

High school diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically large dozers in a mining/construction environment
  • Able to operate heavy equipment while following safety procedures
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, and other unusual elements, such as loud noise, dirt, dust, fumes, etc.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including overtime and weekend hours as required
  • MSHA training certification a plus
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
