Safety Manager

Job Description

Join a team dedicated to maintaining a safety-first culture on high-profile data center and commercial building construction projects. As a Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and fostering a safe work environment for all personnel involved.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the project's safety guidelines, site-specific safety plan, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with the regional safety lead to ensure all necessary safety signage and PPE are available.
  • Confirm that all personnel scheduled to work on-site have completed the required safety orientation training.
  • Gather and organize documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, including Job Hazard Analyses, Safety Data Sheets, High-Risk Activity Plans, and training certifications.
  • Conduct at least one safety audit per day using the designated digital platform, including annotated photos, and share findings with the project team.
  • Submit a minimum of two Safety Observation Reports per week.
  • Spend 6070% of your time in the field engaging with crews and monitoring safety practices.
  • Attend and contribute to daily huddles, coordination meetings, foremens meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
  • Lead or support weekly all-hands safety meetings, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
  • Spot-check safety documentation during site visits.
  • Review and track Daily Action Plans, High-Risk Activity Plans, and safety orientation records.
  • Notify the project team and regional safety lead of any incidents or near-misses and assist in incident investigations.
  • Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all trade partners and maintain communication with subcontractor safety representatives.
  • Participate in or lead planning meetings for high-risk activities.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of safety experience in construction, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Safety certifications such as CHST or CSP.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in supporting data center or commercial building construction projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a related field with 810 years of safety experience.
  • Willingness to undergo top-secret security checks
Work Environment

This role requires being on-site during active construction hours, typically starting at 5:00 or 6:00 AM, with flexibility for extended hours if needed. The work involves 50% fieldwork and 50% documentation/office tasks. Candidates should be comfortable working on either of two data center sites located in Gainesville, VA or Warrenton, VA. Please note that the Warrenton site requires a NDA, no electronics allowed on-site, and a top-secret security clearance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $115.00/hr.
