Electrical Engineer
Job Description

In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, bidding, overseeing, and executing electrical engineering projects. You will support Project Engineers and Electricians by assisting with the development of machine control concepts, project estimates, technical proposal content, and presentation of project concepts, as well as designing solutions for clients. You will collaborate with internal and external customers to review and update technical objectives throughout the project life cycle and participate in system installations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify medium-voltage (5kV - 35kV) and low voltage (120V-480V, 600V) electrical distribution systems, including unit substations, switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, and bus duct systems.
  • Create transformer specifications and feeder sizing based on calculated demand loads, voltage drop analysis, and coordination studies.
  • Design power distribution systems for industrial plants and manufacturing environments, involving projects such as power distribution, industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members to ensure technical objectives are met and updated throughout the project life cycle.
  • Participate in system installations as required.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in power system distribution design, including the design and implementation of these systems in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and knowledge of control hardware.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SKM PowerTools, PLC, and HMI.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and UL standards applicable to industrial power systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements related to construction and company safety policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with a successful track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must be willing to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an electrical engineering role, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities preferred.
  • Experience with Arc Flash Risk Analysis preferred.
Work Environment

The company is a smaller, privately-owned business with management onsite, housed in its own brick-and-mortar facility. Engineers will spend a significant amount of time at the facility performing concepting and engineering work. The company services a variety of industries, including agriculture, grain handling, chemical processing, metals, discreet manufacturing, and pet foods. The role may require travel to job locations with occasional overnight stays. The position is hourly, with overtime eligibility for hours worked over 40, offering benefits such as paid holidays, vacation time, a 401k plan, and strong healthcare coverage and insurance. Engineers have the autonomy to own projects from start to finish.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
