Job Description
Position Overview:
The Afterschool Program Site Coordinator is responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and management of an afterschool program at their designated site. This role involves creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students, overseeing program activities, managing staff, and ensuring effective communication with parents and school officials as set forth by the Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Aid the Director in the design and implement a well-rounded afterschool program that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Aid in the development of a diverse range of activities, including academic support, recreational activities, arts and crafts, and life skills development.
- Collaborate with the Director in the planning and scheduling of weekly activities, ensuring a balance between structured and unstructured time.
- Responsible for organizing and overseeing daily activities at the designated site, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for all participants.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute engaging activities for groups of students on a daily basis, fostering an environment that promotes learning, interaction, and enjoyment.
- Staff Supervision:
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and supervision of program staff, including program assistants and activity instructors with the Director.
- Provide guidance, support, and site specific training to staff members.
- Delegate responsibilities and ensure efficient coordination among staff.
- Student Engagement and Safety:
- Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel safe, respected, and engaged.
- Foster positive relationships among students and promote teamwork and cooperation.
- Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures established by the Director and School Administration.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and proactive communication with parents/guardians about program activities, updates, and student progress.
- Collaborate with the Director, School Staff and Administrators to align program goals with the school's mission and ensure smooth integration.
- Provide the Director with pertinent information about the status of the program.
- Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the Director to design and refine program curricula that support academic enrichment and skill-building.
- Ensure that activities align with age-appropriate developmental stages and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of attendance, program activities, and student behavior.
- Aid in the Registration process.
- Resource Management:
- Inventory supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Report any damage to any property or supplies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferred) in education, child development, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in an afterschool program, youth development, or educational setting.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of child development principles, behavior management strategies, and effective teaching methods.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Proficiency in computing skills, including data entry.
- CPR, AEP, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Passion for working with children and creating positive learning environments.
- Ability to be a team player
$20-$23.86/hr
Approximately 32 weeks a year
