JOB SUMMARY: Machine Shop Operator- CNC
Sets up and operates CNC machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as, cutting, drilling, reaming, and boring of metal products. Operator should be able to make adjustments to machine and adjust set ups per the work instructions for each item.

The Machine Shop Operator is an hourly position subject to overtime pay, and reports to the Machine Shop Lead Person.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements
  2. Must set up machine by following parameters identified on work instructions
  3. Meet or exceed production standards set to produce parts
  4. Accurately complete production records
  5. Control and adjust machine settings as required
  6. Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces on machine
  7. Select and install cutting tools in machine
  8. Load and unload machine
  9. Operate machine with little supervision
  10. Make manual adjustments to programs as required
  11. Ensure conformance of product to blueprint specifications, using precision instruments.
  12. Maintain required housekeeping—including the area around the machine, cleaning machine, tooling, and parts
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Performs other duties as assigned
  2. Assist in mandatory annual physical inventory
  3. Set up peripheral equipment to do secondary operations, such as drilling
  4. May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Ability to stand for an eight hour time period
  2. Ability to lift from the floor to chest-height level, up to 50 lbs
  3. Ability to work in a non climate controlled environment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to follow work instructions
  2. Ability to understand and interpret work procedures
  3. Knowledge of machinery
  4. Basic understanding of shop math
  5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  6. At least 1 year's experience with Machine Shop Operations
