We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Packaging Mechanic to support our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of automated packaging equipment in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and FDA regulations. The ideal candidate will ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance of packaging lines used for tablets, capsules, liquids, and other drug products.

salary: $52,000 - $70,000 per year
shift: Second
work hours: 4 PM - 12 AM
education: High School

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, change over, and maintain packaging machinery such as blister packers, bottle fillers, labelers, cappers, cartoners, and shrink-wrappers.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment to reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement corrective actions to restore optimal functionality.

  • Ensure all equipment adjustments and repairs comply with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure packaging lines run efficiently and meet production targets.

  • Document maintenance activities in accordance with cGMP and company SOPs.

  • Assist in equipment qualification and validation procedures as required.

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for efficient machine repair and upkeep.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience as a mechanic in a pharmaceutical, food, or high-speed packaging environment.

  • strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, and basic electrical troubleshooting.

  • Experience with cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory compliance in a pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated facility.

  • Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and schematics.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends or overtime as required.
