2nd Shift Header Operator Apprentice Job Description As a 3rd Shift Header Operator Apprentice, you will operate Formax Headers, which are precision cold forming machines used to produce high-quality fasteners and parts. You will be trained to adjust and operate this equipment safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Operate equipment and perform complex machine setups, ensuring safety at all times. Determine tooling adjustments needed to maintain proper setups on various header sizes and types. Read and understand blueprints for accurate machine operation. Use gauges and other quality tools to ensure the production of high-quality parts. Perform first-piece inspections and monitor the quality of all parts, making adjustments to maintain standards. Conduct minor preventative maintenance and complete all necessary tracking documents. Record data for SPC, ISO/IATF documentation. Essential Skills At least 1 year of machining experience, either manual or automatic, from any environment. Experience in reading blueprints. Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical inclination is highly valued. Background in auto mechanics, whether formal or informal, is beneficial. Good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills. GED or high school diploma is a plus. Work Environment This position is on the 2nd shift, with training on the 1st shift for 2-4 weeks as needed. The facility is primarily engaged in automotive industry production, though it also serves aerospace, construction, and commercial sectors. The environment can be noisy and loud, with older, oily machines, especially in hot summers. You will need to wear PPE gear, such as ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The dress code includes clothing that can get dirty, like old jeans and a t-shirt, with company shirts likely provided. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Belvidere, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $66560.00/yr.
