Saw Operator**
**Job Description**
+ Set up and operate power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic workpieces according to specifications.
+ Select and install blades on machines using hand tools.
+ Adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tension to ensure precision.
+ Use hand tools and measuring devices to secure and direct workpieces accurately.
+ 1st and 2nd shift available!
**Responsibilities**
+ Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces using hand tools and measuring devices.
+ Scribe reference lines on materials as guides for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications.
+ Mount workpieces in holding devices manually or using hoists or forklifts.
+ Operate saws to cut along scribed lines and verify dimensions of finished workpieces using measuring devices.
+ Perform additional shop duties such as hole drilling manually or with a drill press and broaching keyways.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in saw operation and using measuring tools such as tape measures to a 32nd of an inch.
+ Mechanical inclination with the ability to understand and reconcile inventory for various raw materials including steel, plastics, aluminum, and stainless steel.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Utilization of hand/power tools.
