General Laborer/Driver

Start your new career as a Rail Yard Assistant with MAU at South Carolina Ports Authority in Charleston, SC. As a Rail Yard Assistant, you will support rail transportation operations by preparing shipments and assisting with vehicle handling in the yard.

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid South Carolina driver's license
• TWIC card* - required
• Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
• Clean driving record for the past 5+ years
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions, including walking, standing, kneeling, and climbing
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends

What You'll Do as a Rail Yard Assistant:

• Open and close heavy railcar doors
• Remove and secure wheel chocks and bridge plates
• Safely operate personal motor vehicles in confined spaces and position them for shipment
• Perform other general labor tasks as assigned
• Applicants without a TWIC card are still encouraged to apply. The cost of obtaining the card will be reimbursed after 30 days of continuous employment
