Onsite Niagara Falls, NY Part of Moogs Space and Defense Group, the Engines Business Unit in Niagara Falls, NY supplies rocket engines, propellant tanks, and complete propulsion systems for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle, and strategic defense missions within the aerospace industry. Moog is projecting significant growth in the industry, driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and a continued desire for space exploration. In order to meet the exciting challenges associated with growth in the industry, we are in search of talented individuals with a passion for space to join our growing team!
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to be the technical lead and point of contact for customers on recurring production programs as well as new design and development efforts for space propulsion hardware. The successful candidate will coordinate the work of designers, drafters, technicians, analysts, and other key members of a project team in the pursuit of successful project execution. Working jointly with the program manager, the project engineer shares responsibility for execution of cost and schedule targets throughout the course of a project. Facilitative leadership between program management, quality, and operations groups will be required in this role. The project engineer will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager.
While this position will be based primarily out of the Niagara Falls site, travel between Niagara Falls and East Aurora facilities may also be required depending on the needs of individual programs.
To be considered for the Sr Project Engineer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science (required) or Master of Science (preferred) in related Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Electrical)
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of related project engineering experience, with a proven track record of successful completion of projects. Previous experience supporting propulsion hardware, while not required, is desired. Candidates that do not meet the minimum number of years of project engineering experience may still be considered based on individual qualifications, education, and demonstrated past successes.
  • Self-starting instincts and a strong sense of project ownership.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently with internal and external customers, serving as technical focal point for projects.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams and project management experience related to cost, schedule, and technical execution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Ability to work onsite in Western New Yor (WNY), primarily out of Niagara Falls.
As a Sr Project Engineer you will be responsible to:
  • Provide effective project leadership to cross-functional and cross-site engineering teams for recurring production and development/qualification programs.
  • Manage budget and technical execution for internal research and development (IRAD) programs for which you are responsible.
  • Develop new product requirements through consultation with customers and sales personnel, validating conceptual problem solutions through the performance of trade studies and analyses.
  • Lead bid and proposal of new projects providing scope definitions, defining project schedules, assessing technical compliance, technical volume generation, and providing engineering cost estimates.Contribute to conceptual design and analysis discussions and efforts for rocket engine and propulsion system
  • programs.
  • Serve as lead responsible engineer and technical point of contact to customers on design, development, and production of space propulsion hardware, primarily with rocket engines and chemical propulsion systems.
  • Preparation of engineering reports associated with assigned projects and/or models.

Salary Range Transparency:

Niagara Falls, NY $115,000.00$135,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
