The BIM Document Control Specialist will manage and maintain the flow of information within our Building Information Modeling (BIM) projects. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate, up-to-date, and accessible project documentation. The BIM Document Control Specialist will be responsible for establishing and enforcing document control procedures, managing electronic document management systems, and facilitating efficient information sharing throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Maintain Document Control Procedures: Develop, implement, and enforce BIM document control procedures and protocols in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
  • Manage Electronic Document Management System (EDMS): Administer and maintain the project's EDMS (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, Procore, SharePoint), including user access, folder structures, and metadata standards.
  • Document Numbering and Naming Conventions: Establish and enforce consistent document numbering, naming, and revision control conventions for all BIM deliverables (models, drawings, reports, specifications, etc.).
  • Document Receipt and Distribution: Manage the receipt, logging, distribution, and tracking of all incoming and outgoing BIM-related documents and information.
  • Revision Control: Implement and manage a robust revision control process to ensure that all stakeholders are working with the latest and approved versions of project documents.
  • Quality Assurance: Review documents for adherence to established standards, formats, and quality control procedures. Identify and report any discrepancies or inconsistencies.
  • Record Keeping and Archiving: Maintain accurate and complete records of all project documents and ensure proper archiving upon project completion.
  • Audit and Compliance: Participate in internal and external audits related to document control and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve document control-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with Revit and Navisworks is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing electronic document management systems (EDMS) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, Procore, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows and deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices for document control.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to develop and implement clear and concise procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
