Position Title: TIG Welder

Location: Highland, IL

Position Summary: Utilize all skills necessary to manufacture and build a variety of products and vehicles to meet specifications, quality and deadlines. In this position, most welding is performed on 0.080 - 0.25-inch aluminum or 22 - 16-gauge stainless steel.

This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, where employees are expected to wear multiple hats and handle a variety of tasks. This role requires a high level of adaptability, as daily tasks and priorities may shift based on the evolving needs of the day.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plan details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.
  • Fabricate material by cutting and welding various metals.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded. Set up, assemble, tack and weld parts.
  • Grind and polish stainless corners.
  • Operate power and hand tools such as arc welders, buffing machine, chop saws and a shear.
  • Must keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Work under moderate supervision with the ability and discretion to deviate from standard procedure, if needed.
  • Work from verbal and written instruction (i.e., Drawing, MO's etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and solve non-routine problems in nature within their respected field.
  • Willing to offer solutions and ideas to supervisors, engineers, and team members.
  • Continuous learning on-the-job training and/or other programs designed to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma, Trade school or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in TIG Welding.
  • Must demonstrate a consistent work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High aptitude with math.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Must be safety conscious with good housekeeping skills.
  • Fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification or training in welding, sheet metal fabrication or a related discipline.
  • Experience in brake press operation and manual brakes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to stand up to 8+ hours per day.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
  • Ability to use Respiratory protection as needed.
