Job Description The Assistant Estimator prepares cost estimates at various stages of design, ranging from schematic and budget to detailed take-off and pricing. This role requires building and maintaining healthy, long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and other project managers. Efficient communication with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors is essential, along with preparing economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Responsibilities
- Build rapport with client representatives to ensure the scope of the project and external business influences are fully understood, including deliverables and performance standards.
- Participate in project meetings, review schedules, and prepare reports.
- Visit project sites, warehouses, and other facilities necessary to complete estimates.
- Solicit input from the Safety, Health, and Quality Department regarding anticipated safety requirements for the project.
- Estimate foreseeable safety requirements and costs, including these in the estimate.
- Develop and maintain the Master Project Schedule, adjusting the critical path and project milestones as needed.
- Actively track each aspect of project performance against schedules and the critical path.
- Prepare various RFPs needed for vendor and contractor services for the complete project.
- Manage project financials and prepare to report current budget/cost status and the anticipated final cost.
- Degree in Construction, Construction Management, or Engineering
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Experience with estimating software
- Strong communication skills
- Sense of urgency
- Entry-level with construction experience as a plus
