Overview

Do you have interest in assisting in engineering design for infrastructure improvements at many of the State's most beautiful recreational sites administered by the Dept. of Forests, Parks and Recreation, Fish and Wildlife Dept., and Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)? The Agency Facilities Engineering Section within the DEC is seeking an enthusiastic project engineer to join our small technical team of dedicated engineers and technicians.

Agency Facilities is unique within DEC as we operate as a civil/environmental engineering consulting group for our partners within the Agency of Natural Resources focused on improvements to the infrastructure that supports public access to our beautiful landscape. This work includes all facets of engineering from development, topographic surveying, design and construction oversight for a wide variety of Agency infrastructure projects including water/wastewater/stormwater upgrades for the State Park system; boat access/fish hatchery/wildlife management area improvements for the Fish & Wildlife Department, as well as technical assistance to DECs Dam Safety Section and other DEC programs.

This position will be involved in all facets of project development including preliminary engineering analysis, assisting and/or directing topographic surveys, conceptual design, development of construction plans/specifications, cost estimating, bid assistance, permitting, construction oversight and project management under the guidance of the Section's lead design engineers. Duties may include performing engineering calculations and completing engineering studies in support of designs, coordinating with project stakeholders and regulatory programs to ensure positive outcomes during project development, bidding, and construction. All of this work involves ample opportunity to be in the field at some of the nicest natural areas in the State.

The successful candidate will be expected to have the required engineering educational background with solid technical analysis and communication skills. Relevant experience with Computer Aided Design tools, topographic surveys/equipment, HydroCAD or similar hydraulic/hydrology software, and GIS mapping tools will bolster a candidate's application for the position.
