Welder Job Description We are seeking two skilled Welders to join our team for the 2nd shift. You will primarily work on castings ranging in size from washing machines to microwaves and basketballs. Your role will involve OEM work as well as occasional repair tasks. You will be expected to prep materials for welding and utilize both manual and semi-auto GTAW welding, as well as brazing equipment, to weld and fabricate components according to customer specifications. Responsibilities Perform GTAW/TIG welding and fabrication on materials such as stainless steel, Inconel, cobalt, titanium, aluminum, and magnesium. Join welds, seam weld, and fabricate components based on customer specs using manual and semi-auto GTAW welding. Conduct minor modifications, troubleshooting, and rework of components as necessary. Work from complex blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work orders daily. Set up machines according to material specifications, thicknesses, and positions. Utilize weld fixtures and weld turntables/positioners. Conduct quick dimensional inspections of welds using calipers, protractors, and gauges. Perform visual inspections for cosmetic defects. Complete logs, check sheets, job orders, and other paperwork required for each job performed. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years TIG welding experience in an aerospace environment. Experience working with at least two of the following metals: stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, Inconel, cobalt, titanium. Own helmet and gloves. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in aerospace environments preferred but not required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is clean, well-lit, and organized, featuring a mix of new and old machinery. The shop floor hosts about 200 people across two shifts. Personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots and safety glasses are mandatory on the floor. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with the 2nd shift running from 3:30pm to 12:00am, and potential training on the 1st shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Granby, Connecticut. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
