WORK

This role involves active participation in a comprehensive, structured on-the-job training program, guided by supervisors, managers, and experienced staff members. The training is designed to equip the individual with the necessary skills to perform a wide array of analytical tasks, as well as preventative maintenance and repair functions for various types of construction equipment, trucks, and automobiles that operate on gasoline or diesel engines. Throughout this program, trainees will engage in hands-on learning experiences that cover the full spectrum of maintenance and repair duties, ensuring they gain a thorough understanding of the mechanical systems involved. This immersive approach not only enhances technical proficiency but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of equipment operation and maintenance in a real-world setting.

**Work Schedule and Additional Information:**

- Full-time employment

- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Winter shifts - 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

- **Telework: **You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:**

- Two years as a Tradesman Helper (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) working in the automotive field; **or**

- Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school; **or **

- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

**Conditions of Employment:**

- Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's Permit or License on the first day of employment.

- Certain positions may require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment.

- Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.

- All positions will require employees to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period.

- All positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.

- Certain positions will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.

- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

**Additional Requirement:**

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
