Steel Operator - 2nd & #rd Shift - $20/HR + OT Job Description Work within a steel processing environment to stage and move large coils of steel for production processes such as galvanizing and zinc plating. Support the slitter, pickling, or galvanizing lines while adhering to safety standards and operating machinery effectively and safely. Responsibilities Work in conjunction with production staff to stage and move large coils of steel. Support slitter, pickling, or galvanizing lines. Adhere to safety standards and complete necessary training for effective and safe machinery operation. Essential Skills Experience working within a steel, construction, roofing, or stamping environment. Proficiency as a machine operator with independent machine running experience. Ability to lift 50+ pounds multiple times per day. Experience standing for the entire shift. Leadership and self-starter mindset. Steel-toed boots are required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Pickle line operating experience. Slitter line operating experience. Why Work Here? This long-term opportunity offers substantial growth potential. Work Environment The work environment is a steel processing plant featuring pickling and galvanizing lines, with storage areas for steel. It is a dirty, harsh, and loud environment, requiring attention to safety practices. Summers are hot, and winters are cold, making it essential to adapt to the temperature extremes. Average hours range from 40-60 per week, with shift schedules including second and third shift options, and training on the first shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monroe, Michigan. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $23.00/hr.
