Summary: Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the NDT Department. Provides direction and coordinates activities. Interacts directly with other department supervisors to meet scheduling requirements and to produce quality products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Includes all of the NDT Examiner duties and responsibilities. + Plans and schedules jobs to meet production schedules. + Utilizes equipment and personnel to meet quality standards in NDT inspecting products. + Maintains operation within established standards for cost, quality, labor, maintenance, scrap, housekeeping, safety, etc. + Responsible for assuring proper training. + Promotes an attitude of cooperation; provides proper discipline of personnel; emphasizes importance of quality of work. + Acts as liaison for workers and management. + Maintains a strong interaction with co-workers and personnel issues. + Troubleshoots various jobs to obtain efficiency and improve productivity. + Assists QA with certification, procedure and specification review and approvals. + Looks for continuous improvement opportunities especially as applicable within the department. + Performs surveillance and/or audits at subcontractor, supplier or other required facilities. + Researches new technologies and processes as needed to remain competitive. + Performs other duties as assigned. + NDT Examiner - NAVSEA 250-1500-1 and MIL-STD-2132 in RT, UT, MT, PT, and VT, and ASNT Level III in RT, UT, MT, PT and VT. Must have three years of experience as a Level II/Inspector. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Completion of high school or equivalent; college degree a plus; five or more years of on-the-job experience. Requires high degree of mechanical/technical knowledge. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, employees, customers, and the general public. Math Ability: - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Working knowledge of blue print reading and GD&T. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word Processing software and Excel spreadsheet software; Internet software; business scheduling software, Viacad software, Internet, and communication software. Certificates and Licenses: NDT Qualifications Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the NDT Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. . Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
