Stantec is looking to add a Senior Water Resources Engineer (PE) to join our team in Tennessee, Alabama, or North Carolina. - Apply innovative techniques to solve water resources challenges for municipal, state, and federal clients by managing watershed, flood study, and stormwater projects.
- Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tasks for a variety of water resources projects including dams, levee systems, watershed and floodplain studies and stormwater systems.
- Perform hydraulic modeling of water surface profiles, delineation and review of floodplains and DFIRM mapping products, and dam breach analysis.
- Use a variety of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software applications including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to aid in engineering analysis.
- Foster and sustain positive client relationships, and effectively communicate complex water resources concepts to community stakeholders.
- Conduct field investigations on various projects including but not limited to dam inspections, hydrology and hydraulic evaluations, and levee inspections.
- Serve as a project manager for Risk MAP watershed projects involving production of FEMA regulatory and non-regulatory flood risk products (FRP).
- Perform quality assurance and quality control services including developing programmatic QA/QC plans.
- Engage proactively in business development and marketing efforts.
- Assist USACE on Corps Water Management System (CWMS) projects and breach analyses.
- Collaborate on preparing and completing submission packages, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties; effectively facilitate the agency review/approval process.
- Deliver project information at client and community meetings.
- Guide and oversee junior engineers and technicians.
Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience related to FEMA Risk Map and Floodplain/Watershed Studies.
- Experience with local, state, federal, or watershed/flood control district clients.
- Proficient with engineering software programs, including USACE HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), USACE HEC-HMS, and USACE HEC-DSSVue, EPA-SWMM and/or PC-SWMM, ESRI ArcPro (or other modeling software).
- Possesses excellent time management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Possesses team leadership skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and interview skills are preferred. Additional Capabilities Considered
- Advanced GIS experience such as Model Builder, Python, and advanced analysis tools.
- Experience with programming languages such as C++.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors or masters degree in civil, biosystems, environmental engineering or closely related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Minimum of 10 years experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting.
- 5 years experience in a client facing role.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
