Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHBs Wethersfield, CT office is looking for a versatile Project Manager to join our growing Transportation, Planning and Operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects.
  • Prepare written planning documents including traffic-safety studies, road safety assessments, transportation planning and scoping documents.
  • Develop safety solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilities.
  • Assess countermeasure recommendations using traffic engineering and operational analysis tools.
  • Document and communicate findings from field observations and data collection with clients and public stakeholders.
  • Support safety projects in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and throughout New England.

Skills and Attributes

  • Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering looking to apply these skills to identify innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design.
  • Skilled in industry-standard engineering design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, traffic simulation).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required. (a masters degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
  • 811 years of progressive experience in traffic operations, planning, or safety engineering.
  • PE required
  • Experience with safety planning and safety data preferred
  • Experience with traffic capacity analysis software (Synchro, HCS) required
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation required and GIS experience a plus
