Cemetery General Laborer

We are currently seeking a Cemetery General Laborer in Canton, OH 44718 for a contract position through December , offering $16/hour . This role is essential in supporting cemetery operations, helping ensure burial sites and grounds are respectfully maintained. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with opening and closing graves for burials, entombments, and inurnments
• Operate landscaping tools and machinery including mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and other standard equipment
• Perform manual labor such as digging graves, hauling dirt, placing headstones, and setting up gravesites
• Install and assemble grave foundations, outer burial containers, memorials, and markers
• Maintain a clean and presentable 25-foot radius around burial sites before and after services
• Respond to and complete work orders and service requests from client families accurately and respectfully
• Fill graves, tamp soil, and restore the area with grass seed or sod as needed
• Adhere to all company safety standards and universal health precautions
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
• Complete required Dignity training and uphold the Dignity Memorial Promise
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6 months experience operating landscaping or grounds maintenance equipment
• Skilled in using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, picks, and sledgehammers
• Experience operating larger mechanical equipment (e.G., dump truck, tractor, backhoe, jackhammer, tamper, etc.)
• Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as tape measures and yardsticks
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to interact with coworkers, contractors, and client families
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
• Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Available to work 40 hours per week, with flexibility for extended hours as needed
