About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [FEU]. This is an on-site position, located in Akron, OH or Greensburg, PA. This position will work within a staff of engineers, designers, survey crews, drafters and specialists, both internal and external, engaged in a wide variety of engineering design, from the request for project estimation through construction and record update. This position will report on the progress of design projects and advise of any issues that could impair the successful completion of the project on a proactive basis. This position will provide drawing support to Substation and Transmission personnel, Real Estate, Project Management and Construction crews verifying that safety standards are followed, checking for accuracy, and monitoring progress to meet the required in-service date. Responsibilities: Assisting FirstEnergy ROW Services and Real Estate in the review and interpretation of existing utility easements; and in the acquisition of new or expanded transmission line easements and Substation property with the preparation of sketches, maps, exhibits and easement plans. Periodically assisting field surveying activities with all aspects of a daily crew workload. Ensuring designs support a safe environment for transmission lines and substations personnel, contractors, and the general public. Preparing and filing applications and supporting documentation for engineering permits when necessary. Reviewing transmission line encroachments to meet NESC clearance requirements and coordinating encroachment responses with ROW Services and Transmission Line Maintenance personnel and ensure the public safety is protected. Directing technical personnel to gather and record data for transmission and substation design projects.
