Overview

Hazleton Division, a division of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a Welder to fabricate and repair new and/or used items of various kinds of metal in a fast-paced shop. The ideal candidate is safety focused, team oriented, motivated, and takes initiative.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all work according to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Receives verbal or written direction from shop foreman on plans of fabrication or repair for the days tasks
  • Evaluates the job to verify that supplies are on hand to complete the task
  • Tracks progress and communicates efficiently with supervisors on scheduled and unscheduled tasks
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the job
  • Follows procedures when completing tasks in the correct order including reads prints, measures, cuts, fits, tacks, welds, and polishes various types of metals by varying types of process
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Able to use mechanics hand tools, welder (SMAW, GTAW, GCAW, GMAW), plasma cutter, and torches
  • Valid driver license
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Show efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Degree (such as bachelor or associate) or certificate welding or related program from an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school
  • 3 years related experience
  • ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1 or AWS D1.2 Certification
  • Experience in Wastewater services, heavy civil construction, or other heavy industry

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to:
    • Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Use hands to finger or feel
    • Talk and hear
    • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to:
    • Moving parts
    • Fumes and/or airborne particles
    • Extreme heat
    • Risk of shock
  • Noise level is loud at times
  • Hours regularly exceed 40/week and 8/day
