Position Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing and implementing environmental investigation & remediation projects, conducting research, performing analyses and coordinating other related projects as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to, activities encompassing real estate due diligence, management of soil and groundwater during store development, project budget development and management, emergency response, UST fund submittals, insurance recovery and regulatory advocacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage environmental consultants and contractors for a portfolio of remediation projects, driving projects to regulatory closure
  • Manage financial aspects of projects including budget development, environmental reserves, asset retirement obligation, and budget variance analysis
  • Manage environmental activities during new and existing store development, including preparation of soil and groundwater management budgets and plans
  • Manage environmental due diligence process for potential acquisitions and divestments
  • Assist with emergency response activities at Company stores and for our petroleum transportation team
  • Conduct regulatory outreach with various Federal, state and local agencies, including work group and technical committee participation in coverage areas
  • Manage technical aspects of UST fund submittals and insurance claims to ensure optimal recovery by the Company
  • Keep abreast of new methods, technologies and approaches to ensure regulatory compliant and cost-effective remedial solutions

Working Relationships: Work closely with Environmental team, outside consultants and contractors as well as cross-functional departments within the Store Support Center. Meet with and develop relationships with industry peers and state regulators.

Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience or environmental science

Preferred Education: Above plus illustrated track record of professional development

Minimum Experience: 1 - 3 years of environmental project management experience

Preferred Experience: 3 - 5 years of environmental project management experience

Licenses/Certifications: Not required

Soft Skills: Ability to work effectively in groups and collaborate with other SSC departments; ability to work in fast-paced environment; ability to research, analyze and compile information; strong attention to detail; effective written and verbal communication.

Travel: Limited. Driving to meetings as needed using Company pool car.

Hours & Conditions: Minimum 40 hours/week; on call after hours

Physical Requirements: Ability to work at a desk in office environment, ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
